Flights of Fancy

Well, well, new expression in English to learn and I love it, thank you Johnbo. Flights of Fancy, I have looked it up in the English-Spanish dictionary:

  • Illusion, fantasy….
  • Delusions of grandeur.

I will stay with the first meanings, I do not like the second.

In Spanish we have an expression that I don’t know if it means the same thing “Let the imagination fly”, I’ll stay with that idea.

Yesterday I went out for a walk and played with the Instax Mini Evo, I wanted to try its double exposure shot.

Normally my creativity is synonymous with work, dedicated time and, sometimes, frustration. Yesterday I had all that.

First attempt, before leaving home, to lubricate the neurons.

Let us not forget that they are the ones that produce our creativity, even it is the heart that tells us when we are right.

This did not move my heart.

First tests with flowers, from the neighbors’ garden, which always have beautiful ones.

I’m not convinced, a little confused.

I did several more tests, none deserve to be published, the frustration was getting the best of me. So I put the neurons to work and I thought a background image with contrast and an interesting subject could work.

The red berries of the rosehip seemed like a good subject for the photo…

…a hand and the X-T1 camera against the sky gave me the necessary contract for the background.

To finish, some grasses of the path photographed against the sky as a background and one of them on my mountain pants for the foreground.

Finally I am quite happy with the result. I think I still have a way to explore with double exposure, but it starts with something.

  1. This is wonderful, Ana. You explained your process and your frustrations, which led to a great end result. The last image is my favorite. A great juxtaposition and a fun flight of fancy. 😀😀

    1. Thank you, Tina. 😘
I’m trying to awaken my interest in photography, which is a bit asleep. The other day I had a great time trying it.

  3. I love that you gave yourself a challenging assignment with double exposure. I actually rally loved the photo of the hand with the rose hips. It looks like on of those interesting greeting cards write your own thoughts in. Love them Ana.
