¡I do hate summer! 😦
Well, that’s not exactly true, I hate the suffocating heat of summer and that almost everyone has vacation at the same time, so any place you try to visit will be crowded.

Santillana del Mar (Cantabria-Spain)
I guess this summer will be very different. At the moment, we have no plans to travel, we will go to the mountain and may be, depending on how everything is, we will escape some days to visit some area that won’t be far away.
I don’t think this summer we’ll go to the beach, we don’t like it too much especially in summer and we always try to look for places not very crowded.

Suances (Cantabria-Spain)
We’ll look for refreshing places.

Puente Viesgo (Cantabria-Spain)
Places where safety distance won’t be a problem.

Baztán Valley (Navarra-Spain)
Possibly, we will leave for another moment to go out to meet other countries.

Viena (Austria)
Of course, it’s going to be a very strange summer, we’ll try to have the best time possible.

And do I agree…yes. I started crying when I saw your choice from Baztán Valley. This valley is a dream, a place I will never forget. We stayed a couple of nights and it was…heavenly. I cried all day when we left. The hosts were wonderful, the cows walked home on the streets, the cats where in every corner, the green hills a marvel and the food…Heaven on earth. I had a fantastic meeting with an unforgettable dog the first day. He guided me… talked to me, posed for me. Our last day I looked for him, but he was gone. The landlady saw how sad I was to go, so she sent with me a jar of her home made jam. I still have that jar, but empty now.
A long rant, but…thank you for your lovely post. I am still crying. ♥ I hope your summer will be as great as possible.

I think the Baztan Valley is magical. I got to it through the Baztan trilogy of Dolores Redondo, I read the first book and I knew I had to go there. 🙂

And I have to look for that series of novels!

We had the pleasure of going to Spain a few years back. We just loved it. The best thing though was the orange juice. It was just heavenly.

I’m with you Ana, summer is too hot and too crowded. That said, there is just an easy feeling about it. People smile more and seem more open to beauty and pleasure. So I’ll tolerate the heat to enjoy the other benefits! Gorgeous captures as always

Beautiful images. The heat and light is always harsher with more contrast in summer here in Tasmania, I prefer the other seasons for photography but I do enjoy a lazy summer’s day, though a cracking fire on a cold winter night can be just as nice 🙂

I agree, a lazy summer day or a good fire on a winter day, they can be great.
Thank you 🙂

I’ve never been to the Baztán Valley, but your images make me want to go, Ana. Simply beautiful. I love Ann-Christine’s description of the animals there too and her landlady. Sounds like a wonderful place. I also hope you have a relaxing summer–despite the limitations this year.

The valley of Baztan is an incredible place. Our summer will be very quiet, if there are no changes and we are allowed to leave the city, we will go to the mountain, which is an hour away and we will spend there a few weeks, at least we will be able to walk in nature and, I hope, we will be a little cooler. Although it will surely be a different summer, where masks and safety distance will be the new normal.

Yes, it’s the new normal, no doubt. I hope you can go there. It’s wonderful to have a change of scenery. Refreshing.

Things are getting complicated around here. For now, we are advised not to leave the city. We will see what happens in two weeks… 😦
