The word “raquero” designates the marginal, orphan children or of humble extraction, which were frequenting the wharves of Santander (Cantabria) during the 19th century and beginning of the XXth surviving of small thefts and of the coins that the passengers and crew members of the ships were throwing to the sea in order that they were extracting them diving.
I remember seeing this the film The Grand Bleu, by Luc Besson although it was set in Greece.
